Escape to a better place ...Die Geschichte zum Titel | The story behind the title
Mit dem Titel "Escape to a better place" benannte ich im Jahr 2001 waehrend des Kunstdruck-Kurses meines Kunst-Auslandsstudiums in Kanada an der Mount Allison University meine bislang einzige Fotoplatten-Farblithografie. Die Arbeit an der 60 x 30 cm grossen Grafik, die in drei Farben und mit drei uebereinander gelagerten Fotoplatten-Abdruecken geschaffen wurde, beschaeftigte mich ueber vier Wochen lang waehrend eines strengen kanadischen Winters an der Ostkueste in Sackville (Provinz New Brunswick). Eine der Fotoplatten beinhaltete einen Ausschnitt aus einer Illustrierten. Auf dieser Seite war der Slogan "Escape to a better place" zu lesen, den ich in die Lithografie integrierte. Es sollte der spaetere Titel des Lieblingsmotivs meines bisherigen kuenstlerischen Schaffens werden und - noch einmal einige Monate spaeter, der Titel meiner Webseite.

"Escape to a better place" was the titel of my first and so far only photo-plate lithography. I created this print during my exchange student year at Mount Allison University in Sackville, New Brunswick, Canada, in the Fine Arts printmaking class of Erik Edson in winter of 2001. The 3-color-print with 3 different photo-plate print layers took me four weeks until it was finished. One of the graphics used for one of the three photo plates showed the marketing slogan "Escape to a better place". These words were thus integrated into the lithography and therefore became the title of the final print - my favorite artwork so far. A few months later, I chose this title again, this time for my website.
